Rosatom to build its first NPP in Vietnam

Construction of a new nuclear power plant (NPP-1) in Vietnam with the participation of Russia will begin in 2022 – 2023. The project will be implemented in accordance with the approved national plan of energy development.




This is what Head of the Atomic Energy Agency of the Science and Technologies Ministry of Vietnam, Hoang Anh Tuan, announced on Thursday, the local press reports.

At the same time, Hoang Anh Tuan specified that completion of work at the construction site, as well as commissioning of the nuclear power plant in Ninh Thuan Province are scheduled for 2028.

The NPP project has been developed by Rosatom state corporation’s experts and is being implemented with the use of the advanced Russian technologies and out of proceeds of the soft targeted credit granted by Moscow.

Apart from that, Rosatom guarantees to Vietnam that its NPP project meets the most advanced technological standards and safety requirements.
