Bulgaria intends to get back to the project of the South Stream gas pipeline, but Russia needs absolute guarantees, announced President Vladimir Putin at a press conference following the negotiations with his Turkish colleague in Saint Petersburg, Rossiyskaya Gazeta reports on Tuesday.
“We never politiсize the issues of economic cooperation”, - noted head of the state. - Having offered “South Stream” project, Moscow proceeds from the believe that gas might run to South Europe directly to the consumers of the EU.
“Finally, we haven't received a permit from the Bulgarian authorities... Now we see and know that the Bulgarian party wishes to get back to the project, however, we have borne certain losses due to the refusal of the European partners. Now it's not enough to hear their promises. We need absolute guarantees of legal nature, but there are no such”, - said Vladimir Putin.
