Investors from Thailand erect sugar refinery in the Russian Far East

Thailand’s Sutech Engineering company has registered in Khabarovsk, the city located in the Russian Far East, LLC “The Far Eastern Sugar Refinery”, which will carry out construction of a large sugar mill in the region.




The project implementation is to be launched in 2017 in the town of Sovetskaya Gavan, Kommersant reports on Tuesday.

A total amount of investments is estimated at $210m. Thus, approximately, 90% of the company’s authorized capital will belong to the Asian investors, the rest will be owned by Russian business.

For the purpose of the project’s implementation, Sutech Engineering expects to acquire 48 hectares of land without auction and become a resident of “Sovetskaya Gavan” Special Economic Zone.

The new mill is planned to produce 100,000 tons of high-quality refine sugar annually, 350,000 tons of white sugar and 50,000 tons of the brown one.
