With the purpose to improve national security, Turkey has built a 239-kilometer wall on the border with Syria, Anadolu reports on Monday.
According to the agency, the height of the wall, constructed in the Turkish southern province of Hatay situated at the border with Syria, amounts to three meters and its width totals two meters.
It also reported that the construction of a new wall in other provinces bordering on Syria is expected. The length of the new fencing structure might reach up to 207 kilometers.
The decision to take this measure was made within the framework of strengthening of the fight against terrorism, since the members of terrorist organizations from Syria regularly attempt to penetrate into the Turkish territory.
