Nova Innovation, an energy firm from Scotland, implemented the project of tidal turbine system, which has become the world’s first to deliver electricity to the national grid, Daily Mail reports on the 29th of August.
This advanced project is being realized on Shetland Isles, where the company installed its first turbine half the year ago. The second one is expected to be installed in the near future and after that a large number of turbines are planned to be connected in an “array”.
The undertaking “represents major progress in using tidal energy as a long-term source of predictable renewable power”, said Nova Innovation.
According to managing director of Nova Innovation, Simon Forrest, the company will become the world’s first to deploy a fully operational tidal array.
