The project of construction of the Turkish Stream gas pipeline will eventually be implemented, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in an interview to Bloomberg, which was published on Friday.
According to him, at least the first phase of the gas pipeline construction, which expends transportation capacity and increase supplies to the domestic Turkish market, is to be completed.
However, this phase will also have a potential of gas transportation to the European partners, in case they express such a desire. Besides of that, the support of the European Commission is required as well, indicated Russian leader.
Turkish Stream is planned to run from Southern Russian Krasnodar Region across the Black Sea to Turkish Thrace. The project was announced by Vladimir Putin in 2014 and was supposed to replace the South Stream project.
