Partially constructed Bellefonte nuclear power plant with two reactors is put for sale in the U.S. state of Alabama. The object’s initial price is $36,4m, Tennessee Valley Authority, which is the NPP’s owner, told TASS on Tuesday.
“This is the first NPP that will sell, we have never done anything like that before,” said the company’s representative, Scott Fiedler. He pointed out that a total area of the territory adjacent to the NPP is approximately 6,4 square kilometers and it also contains a number of warehouse premises and an office building.
“The nuclear power plant is unfinished, one of its reactors is about 50% completed, the second one is completed by 90%,” added Fiedler.
According to him, at present, the NPP located not far from Hollywood neighborhood is unfit for power generation. The spokesman for Tennessee Valley Authority stressed that foreign companies, including the Russian ones, can take part in the tender.
