The authorities of the Republic of Dagestan, located in the North Caucasian Federal District of Russia set to the restoration of the Church of the Holy Sign-painter in the city of Khasavyurt, which is one of the largest Orthodox Christian churches in the North Caucasus, the press office of the Republican Religious Institutions Liaising Committee announced on Friday.

As the press office noted, the project documentation on the construction works has been agreed, as well as photofixation of the monument has been carried out. The Church of the Holy Sign-painter was built in 1903-1904 by Cossacks from Terek Cossack Army marking the 300-year anniversary of the House of Romanovs. In 1943 the fire consumed interior and decorations. In 1945 church services resumed there.
