The Angolan government has annulled a contract for road construction worth $695 million concluded with a Chinese company, claiming that the work was “no longer a priority”, Global Construction Review reports on Monday.
The President of Angola, José Eduardo dos Santos, signed a corresponding decree on the 3rd of October. According to the contract, China Tiesiju Civil Engineering had to build access roads for the new International Airport in Angola.
The airport is currently under construction and is planned to be put into operation in 2017. It’s located in the city of Bom Jesus, about 30 km from the southeast of Luanda. It is Chinese companies that are mostly engaged in the construction work at the facility.
