Government of the Leningrad region, Russia, intends to build a passenger airport on the territory of Siversky airport in the Gatchinsky district, the regional governor, Alexander Drozdenko, told reporters on Thursday following signing an agreement on cooperation between the local authorities and Voluntary Association for Assistance to Army, Air Force and Navy (DOSAAF).
According to him, in the near future this issue will be discussed with the Russian Minister of Transport, Maxim Sokolov. However, governor didn’t specify the time of the project implementation, as well as investments and potential investors.
“Aviation will develop. We would like to encourage development of light aviation and helicopter aviation as well. We have got investors, including the Russian ones… We plan to establish an ordinary airport,” added Drozdenko.
