The recently constructed Religious and cultural center of the Russian Orthodox Church is to open today in Paris.
As we have already reported, the Center is situated not far from the Eiffel Tower. It includes the Holy Trinity Cathedral with five gilded domes, a parish center, a school, a cultural center, a bookstore, an exhibition hall and a café.
The construction work was financed from the Russian state budget and cost €170m
The RF Minister of culture, Vladimir Medynsky, has come to Paris to open the center.
In his greeting on the occasion of the opening of the Russian Orthodox cultural center President of the RF Vladimir Putin remarked that the construction of this unique center is the evidence of the stability of the Russian-French cultural and humanitarian relations, mutual aspiration for constructive dialogue and cooperation. He expressed his confidence that the center will occupy rightful place among the sights of Paris, and its work will serve to strengthen good traditions of friendship and mutual respect, having connected the Russians and the French for a long time.
