A memorial with the “Topol” nuclear intercontinental ballistic missile launcher will be erected in Serpukhov (the Moscow region).

As Construction.RU was told by the press office of the RF Ministry of Defense, the monument is to commemorate the creators of the missile nuclear weapon and show respect to the outstanding labour of all generations of missileers. The delivered to Serpukhov launcher had been on combat duty in the Teikovo missile formation and had taken part in the military parade on Red Square. Then it was assigned to the Serpukhov branch of the Military Academy of Strategic Missile Troops named after Peter the Great for military students’ practical training.

Now, according to the Russia-USA Treaty on strategic nuclear weapons cuts, it is brought into the unsuitable for use condition.

To remind you, since the “Topol” complex was put on combat duty, about 100 launches have taken place without any failure. It is both the most reliable and the most accurate weapon with a megaton nuclear warhead in the world.

At present the Russian nuclear shield includes about 100 “Topol” and “Topol-M” high-mobility intercontinental ballistic missile complexes.
