The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor targets development of infrastructure, Pakistan's Petroleum and Natural Resources Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said Tuesday, adding that the country expects the project to become a driver for joint oil and gas projects, Xinhua reports.
The official expressed the hope that Chinese oil and gas companies would invest in the energy performance sector, as well as in other areas of Pakistan's economy.
The minister noted that China, like Pakistan, imports liquefied natural gas, but there are negotiations underway with Chinese firms in view that they have the relevant technology to explore and export LNG.
As a reference, the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor is a pilot project under the Belt and Road Initiative.
