The Defense Ministry of Sweden is “putting a pressure on Swedish government” in order to prevent using the country’s harbors in the towns of Slite in Gotland and Karlshamn to transport and store pipes during construction of the second string of Nord Stream pipeline, Svenska Dagbladet reports.
According to the newspaper, the authorities of Gotland and Karlshamn are considering the project of the pipeline construction as an opportunity to create jobs. In particular, the island might reap a profit in amount of 50 million krones (5,5 million dollars). In this connection, the military representatives offer to make up for the lost benefit to Gotland.
On Thursday, at hearings at the parliamentary defense committee, Sweden militaries made claims to Nord Stream 2 project.
