Governor of the Russian region of Khabarovsk, Vyacheslav Shprot, visited the country’s largest center of proton therapy in Nagoya, Japan's third-largest incorporated city and the fourth most populous urban area.
At present, the project work is being carried out to establish a proton center, the press office of the regional administration told Construction.RU today.
A proton beam is capable to destroy tumors to a precision of up to 0,5 millimeters, without damaging human flesh.
Vyacheslav Shprot has already discussed an option of building a proton center with the participation of Hitachi Corporation in the Russian city of Khabarovsk.
When the project is realized, the city might become Russian Far Eastern center for hi-tech medicine, where a full range of radiological treatment of oncological diseases will be provided.
