The Cuban authorities are interested in building a nuclear research reactor on its territory, Rosatom’s deputy CEO for International Relations, Nikolay Spassky, told reporters today.
“At this stage Cuban government says that they don’t have plans for the creation of nuclear power engineering, but Cuba is extremely interested in the development of the non-energy usage,” said Nikolay Spassky. He explained that the matter concerned nuclear medicine, agriculture, industry, transport, security and other areas, including establishment of a nuclear research reactor.
According to Mr. Spassky, this document opens an opportunity for developing specific projects.
As it was reported earlier, in September of 2016, the Russian Federation and the Republic of Cuba signed an intergovernmental agreement on atom for peace.
