The Egyptian Directorate for Atomic Power Stations and Worley Parsons international consulting company are going to carry out detailed research in the area of the Mediterranean Sea to examine a possibility of construction there of the second Egyptian nuclear power plant.
This is what Egyptian media report citing a source in the Directorate for Atomic Power Stations. According to the available data, a preliminary study carried out by Worley Parsons, confirmed that the selected plot of land in the province of Mersa Matruh is suitable for building NPP there.
As a reference, Worley Parsons is a company engaged in conducting technical expertise for major projects, including the energy sector.
The projected nuclear power plant will be the third generation NPP, consisting of two power units with a total capacity of 2800 MW, 1400 MW each.
The project might be estimated at about $14 billion.
