Russia and the European Commission agreed to hold trilateral negotiations with Ukraine on the issues of gas supplies, the head of the Energy Ministry, Alexander Novak, told reporters on Friday.
“We discussed implementation of the current contracts and agreed to meet in a trilateral format with the representatives of Ukrainian party and (Vice-President of the European Commission in charge of Energy Union Maros) Sefcovic,” Alexander Novak said.
The meeting might be held in December.
According to the Minister, at the meeting the parties plan to discuss additional volumes of gas supplies to Ukraine for the autumn and winter period with the existing contracts.
Alexander Novak noted that Russian gas for Ukraine is $30 cheaper per cubic meter, than for Europe, and that the Russia gas price is competitive.
