On Friday, speaking at a session of the Council for Strategic Planning, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that there was a necessity to improve ecological situation in the country and dispose of large trash dumps.
In this connection the President came up with the proposal to compile a map of illegal trash dumps, with involvement of the public in implementation of that initiative.
First of all, it’s necessary to tackle the issue of accumulated wastes, to remove the largest trash dumps, which are poisoning the life of the people in the direct sense of the word,” Vladimir Putin noted.
According to the President, at present, about 100 billion tons of household and industrial wastes, which occupy an area of some 4 million hectares, have been accumulated.
