The North Dakota’s protesters are announced a deadline to live their encampment, where they have spent several months staging rallies against the project of a 1,200-mile pipeline running through the Dakotas, Iowa and Illinois, the Washington Post reports on Monday.

The people will have to leave the encampment by the 5th of December, 2016, and all federal lands north of the Cannonball River will be closed to public access for “safety concerns.”

The protesters, including local tribes, oppose the pipeline project, fearing that it will negatively impact drinking water and cultural sites in North Dakota, while the pipeline developer Energy Transfer Partners claims that it will be safe.
