A law on ratification of an agreement with Russia providing for construction of Turkish Stream pipeline was adopted by the Parliament of Turkey, RIA Novosti news agency reports on Friday, on the 2nd of December.
210 parliamentarians voted in favour of the document, seven were against and six abstained. After that, the document will have to be signed by Turkish President Recep Erdogan and will be published in an official newspaper Resmi gazete. Then the law will come into effect.
We should remind you that on the 10th of October, Russia and Turkey signed an intergovernmental agreement on implementation of Turkish Stream project. The deal stipulates construction of two strings of main gas pipeline under the Black Sea with a capacity of 15,75 billion of cubic meters each. One of the strings will supply gas to Turkish market, the second one will transport gas to European countries through the territory of Turkey.
