The largest greenhouse facility in the Russian region of Volgograd, Ovoshchevod LLC, might increase the space of its greenhouses from 25 to 100 hectares over the course of the next three years.

This is what the regional governor, Andrei Bocharov, announced during an offsite meeting dedicated to implementation of investment projects in the agriculture sector.

“Today we have a unique opportunity to become one of the country’s leaders in the field of the protected ground production of vegetables. This is a breakthrough direction,” Mr. Bocharov said.

A new facility growing cucumbers on an all-the-year-around basis is scheduled to be put in operation this year by the company. Its area will be 5 hectares. At present, a total area of the enterprise’s greenhouses amount to over 25 hectares.

The governor set a new task to the enterprise – to create 10 more hectares of greenhouses in 2017 and increase the capacity to up to 100 hectares in the next years.
