EnergyAustralia, an electricity generation, electricity and gas retailing private company in Australia, plans to invest $1.5 billion in new projects for wind and solar power generation in the eastern part of the country, News.com.au reports on Wednesday.
The made a decision to purchase 500 MW of power from wind and solar plants, thus it has increased more than twofold the energy amount it can source from renewables.
According to EnergyAustralia, the company purchased the output from a planned 42.6 MW solar farm at Manildra in central west NSW, which will be able to provide with power 14,000 homes annually when completed in 2018. The contract with the Manildra farm is expected to be signed by the end of December.
