Russia puts S-400 missile systems on combat duty in country’s northwest

On the 8th of December, a number of S-400 Triumf air defense missile systems were put on combat duty in northwestern Russia, according to Igor Muginov, representing the country’s Western Military District, TASS news agency reports.




This measure is aimed at protection of the air borders in that part of Russia, which is a strategic direction of the country’s defense. As Igor Muginov put it, S-400 regiments are planned to check their integration in the system of air and space defense in the region. Apart from that, a series of special trainings will be carried out.

As a reference, S-400 is a long-range anti-aircraft missile system designed to reached the target at a distance of up to 400 kilometers.
