According to a Deputy Mayor of Moscow for urban policy and construction, Marat Khusnullin, about 20 km of new metro lines are planned to be put in operation in the capital city of Russia every year.

“This year we opened five underground stations and we plan to open three more until the end of the year. However, it is important that we have laid the tremendous groundwork for the future, we plan to put in operation 20 km of new metro lines in the next three years,” said Mr Khusnullin.

He added that in 2016, about 20 km of tunnels have already been put into operation.

“I want to emphasize that we have never built in Moscow so much before. The volume of metro construction today is the highest not only for the Russian but also for the Soviet period of Moscow”, stressed Mr Khusnullin.
