On Friday, Gazprom CEO, Alexey Miller, told reporters that the construction of a gas pipeline to Japan is likely to start in the near future.
According to Alexey Miller, the project to build one or a number of the pipeline strings connecting Sakhalin and one of the Japanese islands soon may become the matter of negotiations between the two countries. Gazprom CEO made this statement following the official visit of the Russian President Vladimir Putin to Toyko.
Also, Alexey Miller signed today an agreement on strategic cooperation between Gazprom and Mitsui with Chairman of the company’s Board of Directors, Masami Iijima.
The document envisages interaction within the framework of the extension of “Sakhalin-2” project.
