Until the end of this year, construction of eight buildings and infrastructure for the military is scheduled to be completed on Wrangel Island in the Arctic, the press office of the Federal Special Construction Agency (Spetsstroy) of Russia told Construction.RU today.
According to the Agency, positions for placement of Enroute Radar Facility Office has already been built, the sites for location of radio receiving and transmitting equipment, as well as buildings of temporary stay of personnel have been completed as well.
In 2017, another 30 buildings and facilities are planned to be put in operation there.
As a reference, Wrangel Island is situated in the Arctic Ocean, between the Chukchi Sea and East Siberian Sea. Administratively it belongs to the Chukotka Autonomous District of the Russian Federation.
