The cost of construction and modernization of water and wastewater treatment facilities on the Volga River may amount to 200 billion rubles ($3,2 billion), the Minister of Natural Resources, Sergey Donskoy told reporters on Wednesday.
“According to expert estimates, demand for resources for construction and modernization of water and wastewater treatment plants, as well as for restoration and environmental rehabilitation of the Volga River is estimated at about 200 billion rubles,” - he said.
He noted that the funds have to be transferred as payments for negative impact on the environment. Sergey Donskoy admitted that the matter concerns the amount between 5 to 15 billion rubles annually.
