Polish community in the Ukrainian city of Lviv demands economic autonomy from Kiev and intends to obtain closer integration with Warsaw.
Representatives of the Polish community in the Lviv region have already adopted a corresponding decision and will forward it to the federal authorities of Ukraine. Ukrainian Poles expect to integrate with Poland and establish close economic ties with the country.
According to Sergei Lukyanenko, one of the community’s representatives, the economic backwardness of the region is 50 years, compared with the neighboring Poland’s regions.
“While Lviv has prospects, other regions don not have them. Poland will provide Lviv residents with an opportunity to realize their potential,” he said. Sergei Lukyanenko added that there is no need in Ukrainian government’s interference and mediation in a process of establishing cooperation.
