Russia bans cattle import from Georgia

Russia banned imports of Georgian cattle and products derived from these animals, due to the outbreak of dermatitis, the press service of the Federal Service for Veterinarian and Vegetation Sanitary Supervision announced.




“In connection with the registration of the outbreaks of nodular dermatitis among cattle on the territory of Georgia, restrictions on import to the Russian Federation have been introduced regarding the following goods: animals susceptible to nodular dermatitis (including cattle), products derived from animals susceptible to the disease (including cattle), the goods without proper treatment that ensures the destruction of nodular dermatitis virus”, - as it was stated in the message.

In addition, genetic material and leather raw materials obtained from the slaughter of susceptible to this disease species of animals also fall within the prohibition.
