Safari park in Moscow region to be put in operation this summer

A safari park with an area of 60 hectares is planned to be opened this summer near the town of Volokalamsk located in the Moscow region, in Russia, director general of the Moscow Zoo, Svetlana Akulova, told reporters on Wednesday.




“At present, there is a breeding ground near Volokolamsk, however, as early as by the 1st of June this year we plan to put in operation a safari park with an area of 60 ha,” said Svetlana Akulova.

According to her, this is the first phase of a large-scale project, which will be implemented over the course of several years.

“We plan to set up a major safari park with an area of 240 hectares. For the project's realization we intend to attract investors. Now we are holding negotiations with three potential investors,” Akulova noted.
