Andrey Zharkov, president of ALROSA, the Russian group of diamond mining companies, submitted a letter of resignation from his post. He announced it at a planning meeting on Tuesday.
The statement of the head of ALROSA will be considered by the company’s Supervisory Board.
We should remind you that last week Bloomberg, with the reference to its own sources, reported that the Russian government was discussing changing the president of ALROSA.
It was reported that Andrey Zharkov, who served as president since April 2015, split with officials over the company’s development policy. Interfax news agency’s sources in the company repeatedly noted that Zharkov had disagreements with officials, primarily with the Ministry of Finance, the head of which Anton Siluanov chairs the Supervisory Board of ALROSA.
