Iskander missile complexes, supplied by Russia last year, belong to the Armed Forces of Armenia and are operated by specially trained Armenian militaries, the Defense Minister of Armenia, Vigen Sargsyan, said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

Iskanders were first demonstrated on September 21 last year at a military parade in Yerevan in honor of the 25th anniversary of Armenia's independence. However, according to some data, they entered service in the Armenian Armed Forces earlier and were placed in operational readiness during the conflict escalation in Nagorny Karabakh in April, 2016. Later, some media speculated that the missile systems still belonged to the Russian Federation.

“The fact that Iskanders were supplied to Armenia, in my opinion, is obvious to everyone, because they could be seen first-hand. I can also confirm with full confidence that they belong to the Armed Forces of Armenia”, the Minister said.
