UAZ, a Russian automobile manufacturer based in Ulyanovsk, which produces off-road vehicles, buses and trucks, expects to set up vehicle assembly in Vietnam this year, while in Iran and Egypt this undertaking is scheduled for 2018, as it follows from the company’s presentation.

Thus, the company intends to diversify the markets in these countries, which in some cases are confined within government orders.

In Iran, the assembly of UAZ Patriot, UAZ Pickup and UAZ Cargo is planned to be established jointly with a local partner – Tavan Khodro Jey Co. In Vietnam, a joint venture for the assembly of UAZ Patriot and UAZ Pickup will be set up with Auto K. A partner in Egypt has not been selected yet, the company’s Export Director, Andrey Dorofeyev, told reporters.

The car market in Vietnam is booming and, at present, UAZ delivers to this market its cars for the defense needs only, however it strives to enter the country’s commercial market, Dorofeyev added.
