Odebrecht, a Brazilian construction company involved in big corruption scandal funded electoral campaign of the current President of Columbia, Juan Manuel Santos, Columbian Prosecutor’s Office said on Monday.
According to the Columbian authorities, the matter concerns allocation of at least $3,6 billion on the campaign of Juan Manuel Santos and another former presidential candidate, Oscar Ivan Zuluaga.
At present, National Electoral Council of Columbia carries out inspection of the sources of financing of the both candidates’ campaigns.
“Legal research, evidence, as well as documentary evidence have provided prosecutors with new evidence that show different options of taking spending for presidential campaigns of Odebrecht,” — the country's Prosecutor General Nestor Humberto Martinez said at a press conference.
