India is ready to develop a project of the fifth generation fighter aircraft (FGFA) only under the condition of a complete transfer of technologies, Times of India reports with the reference to its sources in the country’s Defense Ministry.
The Defense Ministry of India provides an example of a contract with Russia on delivery of Su-30MKI air superiority fighter, which didn’t envisaged transfer of technologies, something the current government considers to be a blunder.
As the newspaper’s source put it, although the major part of Su-30MKI, contracted in Russia, were manufactured by Indian Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), the company still is not capable to produce these fighter jets on its own.
He stressed that the decision was taken at a very high level.
