American Express brings its debit cards to Russian market

Debit cards of American Express (AmEx) payment system will be issued in Russia, Kommersant newspaper reports with the reference to the market participants.




Russian Standard, a bank, which will emit AmEx cards, has already issued the country's first debit card of this payment system; the product appeared on the website of the bank. At present, AmEx debit cards are issued in the Republic of Maldives only.

AmEx debit card is issued and serviced free of charge if an average account balance totals over 500 thousand rubles per year, or its equivalent in foreign currency. With the lower amount, the annual maintenance will be 25 thousand rubles per year. It provides access to AmEx club programs worldwide.

American Express was founded in 1850. The number of active АмЕх cards in the world amounts to 117.8 million items.
