Egypt and Russia plan to finalize the contracts for construction of a nuclear power plant in El-Dabaa, an Egyptian city located 183.9 miles from Cairo, by this summer, The Daily News Egypt reports citing government officials.
“The details of commercial contracts will be finalized within two months, after that, the projects will be forwarded for approval to the State Council of Egypt, and, in June, the parties might be ready to sign the documents,” the newspaper’s source said.
The set of contracts includes contracts for technical support and training, design and production of power units, supply and disposal of nuclear waste. At present, the parties discuss details of the supply of spare parts for the station and nuclear waste treatment. In particular, the matter concerns the construction of reservoirs and establishing the cost of disposal, as well as penalties for delays.
