By the end of this year, Beijing will put into operation a subway line for fully automated trains, the Construction and Housing Affairs Committee of the Chinese capital announced.

It will become the first metro line with unmanned trains both in Beijing and in Inner China as a whole.

The length of a new metro line running from Yanshan to Fangshan, which will be built in the south-west of the city, will amount to 16.6 km, Xinhua news agency informs.

According to the Committee, this year, two more lines of the rail transport will be put into operation in Beijing. These are Xijiao modern tram line on the north-west of the city and S1 medium-speed magnetic levitation line connecting the western district of Mentougou city with Pingouin metro station in Shijingshan district.
