Russia starts development of new major uranium deposits

The Bauntovskiy Evenky region of the Russian Republic of Buryatia began the development of Vershinnoye uranium deposit, the press office of Atomredmetzoloto holding announced.




Vershinnoye deposit is one of the eight deposits of the Khiagda ore field (the total reserves are estimated at 45 thousand tons of uranium), the development of which is carried out by JSC Khiagda, incorporated in Atomredmetzoloto holding company, Rosatom. Its reserves amount to 4577 tons of uranium, the first metal is planned to be obtained in 2018.

Production Director of JSC Khiagda Andrey Gladyshev said that the company would build more than 1.2 thousand production wells at Vershinnoye, 165 of them have already been drilled.
