Atommash, a Russian company based in Volgodonsk, Rostov region, and incorporated in an energy-machine-building division of Rosatom State Energy Corporation, embarked on manufacturing a vessel for the world's most powerful multipurpose research fast-breeder reactor, which is currently under construction in Russia, RIA Novosti reports on Monday.
Unique technical characteristics of the research fast-breeder reactor will allow to solve a wide range of research tasks in support of the creation of new, competitive and safe nuclear power plants, including the fast breeder reactors to close the nuclear fuel cycle. At that, the time of studies on new reactor, compared to current installations, will be reduced several times.
Apart from that. an international research center is planned to be established on the basis of the research fast-breeder reactor.
