Why Belarusian President Lukashenko heads for Turkmenistan

Today it became known that from the 29th to 31st of March, President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, will pay an official visit to Turkmenistan.




According to the presidential press office, on the 30th of March, Alexander Lukashenko will hold negotiations with President of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow. At first, two leaders will meet on a one-on-one basis, and then on a delegation. Special attention will be paid to the development of trade and economic cooperation.

Following the talks a number of bilateral documents are expected to be signed. Then the presidents will open a building complex of the Embassy of Belarus in Turkmenistan and will put in operation the Garlyk mining and processing plant, which construction had been recently completed with the assistance of Belarusian engineers.

As it was previously reported, earlier, the parties made mutual claims to each other about the realization of Garlyk project for production of potash fertilizers.
