The first phase of construction of a high-tech shipyard was launched in the Russian city of Yakutsk on the premises of Zhatai ship-building and ship-repairing facility, which was modernized and reconstructed.

As Construction.RU was told today by the company’s press office, the first phase started from drilling operations. At present, 20% of the planned volume of these activities has been completed.

Due to the large territory, which the shipyard will occupy, the drilling activities are expected to be over in mid-April.

Zhatai shipyard is scheduled to reach its design capacity in 2022. It will be capable to produce ten river vessels per year and repair up to six ships annually.

As a reference, Yakutsk is the capital city of the Sakha Republic, Russia, located about 450 kilometers south of the Arctic Circle.
