Russian Transport Minister Maksim Sokolov, speaking at the International Arctic forum entitled “Arctic is a Territory of Dialogue", admitted that developing the region's transport system, it is necessary to take into account projects like Hyperloop.

The Minister noted that due to such projects, the transportation system of the world will change fundamentally in the medium term.

“I am confident that in the near future we will radically alter our approach to transport systems. Today, we barely touched on unmanned vehicles. But in fact, today we are on the threshold of the birth of new types of transport and transportation systems. Let's assume for today’s discussion: how a project like Hyperloop will change approaches to development of the Northern Sea routes or railway lines, which provide access to the ports, if technologically and financially it will be implemented in the near future?”, — Sokolov said.

According to him, under these circumstances, the task of governments is to have strategies and programs for the development of their territories, which would be coordinated in terms of both industry and regions.

“At the level of Russia, as I see it, we will implement this approach”, the Minister concluded.
