This year, the Russian Defense Ministry will deploy a group of drones in the Far East to fight forest fires, a source in the Ministry’s Forestry Office told RIA Novosti news agency on Friday.
In 2017, we plan to deploy the first group of autonomous drones in one of the regions of the Far East, where the problem of early detection of fires is very acute and the use of traditional methods is limited by the peculiarities of climate, topography and communication infrastructure,” — an advisor to the head of Oboronles at the Defense Ministry, Ivan Petrov, explained.
In addition, forest fires breaking-out on the territory of Russia will continue to be monitored with the use of satellite data.
