The head of Udmurtia, a Russian republic within the Volga Federal District, Alexander Solovyov, and a director of the local branch of Avtodor, a state enterprise engaged in arrangement of road repair activities, have been detained in a criminal case over abuse of authority, Interfax reports on Tuesday citing a source familiar with the situation.




“Solovyov is charged with abuse of authority at the construction of roads. Together with the head of the republic, a director of the local Avtodor is detained”, - the agency’s interlocutor said.

According to him, Solovyov was arrested early on Tuesday morning at the place of his residence. Solovyov’s house has been searched.

“At present, the head of Udmurtia has already been escorted to Moscow,” – the source added. In the near future, investigation will petition for applying a measure of restraint for Alexander Solovyov.
