Construction of plants for the production of Kalashnikov assault rifles and ammunition in Venezuela has been accelerated, assembly of the first batch of rifles has already started.
This is what a deputy director at the Federal Service for Military and Technical Cooperation of Russia, Anatoly Punchuk, told Interfax news agency on Tuesday.
“At present, the Russian enterprises, in close contact with the Venezuelan party, have stepped up efforts to accelerate the construction of plants for the production of Kalashnikov assault rifles and ammunition. Both Russian and Venezuelan construction organization operate at the site”, - he said.
Anatoly Punchuk added that most of technological equipment had already been delivered to the country and was ready for installation. In addition, in accordance with the contract’s terms, a batch of assault rifles is being currently assembled from the previously supplied components.
