Serial production of Chevrolet Niva starts in Kazakhstan

A joint venture of American corporation General Motors (GM) and AvtoVAZ – GM-AvtoVAZ – has set up a facility for the assembly of Chevrolet Niva cars in Kostanay, a city in northern Kazakhstan, the company said.




Serial production is planned to begin at the premises of SaryarkaAvtoProm enterprise on April 10.

A contract for supplies of assembly kits was approved in January 2017.

In 2016, exports of GM-AvtoVAZ decreased by 34.5%, down to 1,560 items. Kazakhstan accounted for 23.2% of this amount, the company stressed.

As a reference, AvtoVAZ is the Russian car manufacturer, its factory is the largest automobile producer in Russia and Eastern Europe and one of the world’s largest one.
