Gazprom Neft increases production at Iraqi oil field by 42%

Gazprom Neft Middle East B. V., a subsidiary of Russian corporation Gazprom, has increased production at Sarqala-1 well in Iraq by 42%, up to 7,100 barrels per day, according to WesternZagros, which previously was an operator of the project.




“WesternZagros Resources Ltd. is pleased to announce that the operator of the project has successfully conducted an operation on stimulation of Sarqala-1 acid well, which is located in Garmian block in Iraqi Kurdistan. Works on the stimulation of the well were completed on 31 March 2017 and, at present, a fixed production has been established at the level of 7,100 barrels per day”, - the message reads.

As a reference, Gazprom Neft Middle East has become an operator of Sarqala oil field in March 2016, in accordance with the signed in 2012 agreement on the production division. Previously, Canadian WesternZagros Resources Ltd operated the project.
