Ecuadorian state power company CELEC wants to terminate a contract with Inter RAO UES, an energy holding company headquartered in Moscow, for construction of Toachi Pilaton hydro power plant, due to dissatisfaction with the commissioning timing, the press office of the Russian company told Rambler News on Monday.
“We have a notification from the Ecuadorian party, but we disagree with it on any point (neither in part of claims, nor in part of requirements), so we appealed to the Mediation Center in Ecuador for the settlement of differences, and in this format we are carrying out a dialogue with the Ecuadorian colleagues,” — the company’s representative said.
The source also noted that the company was only responsible for the supply and installation of equipment, while construction was carried out by a Chinese contractor under a separate contract with CELEC.
